Seasonal occasions such as Valentines Day are always interesting to research. One always wonders if these holidays are an invention of the card or flower industry or if there is some history or at least a legend behind them. It turns out there is a history to Valentines day that is quit interesting. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.
Both Chocolate & Pomegranates are said to be natural aphrodisiacs that will get a couple in the right mood. Beside these two ingredients one can add Basil, Ginger and Ginseng to the list of aphrodisiacs that you need to try. This Minibundt cake can be frozen for weeks to come if you are planning more than just one romantic diner.
The Pomegranate Glaze on the other hand can be stored for weeks in the refrigerator. You will just need to stir the glaze before using it. Glazes traditionally are made mainly from sugar and to make the glaze more healthy I used powdered Birchsugar/xylitol sugar. What you can also do is to grind normal Birchsugar for several minutes until very fine, to then sift into the glaze. I hope my sweet aphrodisiac works well for you and enjoy your recipe.
